Elisa (Lufler) Milano ’97 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in marketing—an academic combination that continues to influence her professional journey today.

Why did you choose to attend Fairfield University?

The campus, class size, and business school were strong factors. Debbie Belkin was the soccer coach and had been a member of the 1991 World Cup team, so having the opportunity to play for her was a special experience for me.

How are you involved with the University now?

I stay connected to the soccer program, especially since Dave Barrett came on board. I attended our 25th reunion a few years ago and loved seeing so many classmates!

What inspires you to stay involved with the University?

Fairfield always encouraged belonging and community; as a student I found ways to help others, which I continue to do in my local community. I have always loved being a part of a team, and whether it is soccer or a larger community, being connected is important to me. I want to be able to give back in small ways.

How do you hope your support will impact the future of Fairfield University?

I don’t want cost to be a barrier for a promising student-athlete to come to Fairfield U, play soccer, and grow as a person.

Any advice for fellow Fairfield Athletics alumni and friends about how to stay involved?

Aside from having a coach that’s doing a great job keeping alumni informed and included… follow the social media pages, read the updates on student-athletes, attend games. Maybe a senior is looking into a field that you have knowledge about and can share advice or connections. A fellow Stag and friend gave me a great lead many years ago that led to a fantastic job opportunity, so I know first-hand how important our connections matter.

About/Family Section:

I am living in Guilford CT with my family – Alex (19) is a sophomore studying chemical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, and Zach (16) is a junior at Guilford HS. I worked in advertising in NYC/Fairfield County before deciding to stay home for a few years to raise my boys. Most recently I have been working within the Guilford Public School system. My soccer days are behind me, but I play competitive tennis on a USTA team. Love the competition and camaraderie!
