Getting to Know Madison Banas ’20
Why Fairfield?
I went to a Jesuit high school in Chicago, Loyola Academy, so when I visited Fairfield, there was a familiar feeling that immediately appealed to me. I loved walking around campus and feeling at home, while also knowing I would have the opportunity to experience life on the East Coast after growing up in the Midwest.
Fairfield offered me the chance to experience something new while still being part of the kind of Jesuit community I already knew and valued.
How I Stay Involved Today
I stay closely connected with the Fairfield golf program. Each year, I’ve tried to keep an alumni golf outing going where we return to Fairfield and play alongside the current student-athletes.
It gives alumni a chance to get to know the current players so that when we’re cheering on the Stags throughout the season, we know who we’re supporting. It’s also a great way to keep former players connected to one another and to the program.
What Keeps Me Coming Back
My time at Fairfield was incredibly special to me, especially being part of the golf team. I love seeing all the advancements the University continues to make and watching how far the golf program has come since I was a student-athlete.
Staying involved gives me an opportunity to remain connected to a place and a program that were such important parts of my college experience.
What I Hope This Builds
The sky is the limit when it comes to what Fairfield—and the people who make it so great—are capable of accomplishing.
I’m hopeful that my monthly contributions, even if they may seem small individually, can have a larger impact on the golf program and help support its continued growth and success.
My Advice to Fellow Alumni and Friends
Just ask!
If you’ve always had an idea for staying involved but never had the resources or follow-through to get it started, reach out. There may be someone at the University who can help you turn that idea into something real.
Getting involved doesn’t have to start with something big. Sometimes it simply starts with reaching out and asking how you can help.
