On May 20, business students visited the New York City headquarters of Bank of America for an event coordinated by the Dolan Career Development Center with Merrill Lynch, an investment management and wealth management division of Bank of America.
The Charles F. Dolan School of Business students spanned a variety of majors including finance, economics, and business analytics. Together, their shared goal was to get a first-hand look at the wealth management profession in action.
Industry leaders in wealth management, including Fairfield alumni, provided students with a look into their specialty areas of focus, including ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) portfolio strategy, debt capital markets, and alternative investments. Students engaged with professionals in dynamic conversations about markets, leadership, and careers in finance.
Gina Douvas, senior vice president of investments at Merrill Lynch and senior resident director of Fairfield Connecticut’s Merrill Lynch office, led the students who took part in the site visit. A Dolan School Advisory Board member, Douvas is the lead partner of her wealth management practice.
“It was a great opportunity for the students to ask questions and get advice as they start to explore their own career paths,” Douvas said. “My hope was to give the students a better understanding of what’s possible, give them a feel of a corporate environment, give them an opportunity to establish a personal connection and to network. Based on the feedback I received, I believe it was a very successful event.”
