Academic Internships

Academic internships allow Dolan students to earn academic credit while gaining meaningful, hands-on professional experience. These internships integrate real-world work with structured academic reflection, helping students connect classroom learning to career development.

Both paid and unpaid internships may be eligible for academic credit. Students may complete up to two 3-credit internships and two 1-credit internships during their time at Fairfield—limited to one internship per fall, spring, or summer term. Credit for an academic internship credit is earned concurrently with the internship experience and must be approved at the start of the semester.

On-ternships

A collection of on-campus internships designed for students looking to gain professional experience while staying on campus. These hands-on opportunities allow students to develop real-world skills, build their resumes, and connect with staff across departments, all while earning academic credit. On-ternships are available during fall and spring semesters.

Social Impact Summer Internship (SISI) Stipend

The SISI stipend encourages students to pursue local nonprofit internships and receive real-world job training while utilizing their knowledge and skills to support those in our community.

Selected interns receive a stipend up to $3000 at no cost to the nonprofit. Internships must be completed with a nonprofit organization whose mission demonstrates a clear social purpose and benefits the public interest. They must be unpaid, last a minimum of four weeks, and include an identified supervisor who is available for guidance and regular feedback.

Micro-Internships

Explore Careers with Micro-Internships, we partner with Parker Dewey to offer short-term, paid projects for college students and recent grads. These flexible, professional experiences help you explore different industries, roles, and company cultures—without needing prior experience. All projects are fairly paid, and Parker Dewey handles the details—no contracts, invoices, or pay negotiations needed.
