Before the academic year begins, participants move to campus early and have the opportunity to meet fellow first-year students, build friendships, and become more comfortable with their new campus community.
Throughout the program, students serve alongside local community partners, participate in team-building activities, and engage in meaningful small-group discussions and reflection. These shared experiences encourage students to explore Fairfield’s Jesuit values and what it means to become people with and for others.
IGNITE provides an engaging and purposeful introduction to college life, giving students an opportunity to make connections, serve others, and reflect on how they can contribute to the Fairfield community. Students leave the experience with new friendships, greater confidence as they begin their first semester, and a deeper understanding of Fairfield’s commitment to service, community, and living with purpose.
