With new threats to cybersecurity evolving at an unprecedented rate, businesses are more vulnerable to cybercriminals than ever. Hackers are becoming more sophisticated in their methods, finding new ways to breach security, stealing information like social security numbers or credit card data, and even shutting down entire computer networks. These growing threats make cybersecurity more important than ever.

Tune in at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17 for the School of Engineering’s virtual Zoom webinar entitled “Have You Built Your Cybersecurity Safe Harbor Yet?” This virtual lecture is free and open to the public, with the support of Shipman Goodwin Inc.

During the virtual webinar, panelists will discuss Connecticut’s new house bill, which incentivizes the adoption of cybersecurity standards for businesses. The bill, effective starting October 2021, allows businesses to further protect themselves by building a cybersecurity infrastructure. The webinar will discuss the legal advantages along with the necessary steps to consider when managing cybersecurity for businesses. These steps will not only make cybersecurity a function of a business, but will also help business owners avoid certain litigation-related damages in the event case of a cybersecurity incident.

Panelists include Guardian Life Chief Information Security Officer and School of Engineering Lecturer Greg Kyrytschenko, ADNET Technologies Senior IT Security Analyst Eric Monda, ADNET Technologies Marketing and Events Specialist Danielle Allard, William Roberts, and Fairfield University Chief Information Security Officer Justin Hickey. Director of Fairfield's cybersecurity program Mirco Speretta, PhD will moderate the discussion.

Registration is required for this event. Please R.S.V.P. today.
