Fairfield University’s Murphy Center for Ignatian Spirituality is offering the greater community an array of virtual spiritual programming designed to maintain interpersonal connection and foster a spiritual connection to help guide participants through this unprecedented time brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

One-on-one spiritual direction meetings are taking place via Zoom, FaceTime, and Skype; and personalized meetings are available for anyone seeking a deeper connection with God. The meetings have amassed more than 200 participants since moving to virtual platforms

The Center also launched a weekly Ignatian Virtual Retreat that takes place on Zoom. These one-hour presentations on Ignatian Spirituality have so far bridged the virtual divide and transcended geography, including participants from Ireland and Italy.

A virtual program, Magis Ministry: Spiritual Companionship during the Pandemic, is being offered to spiritual directors on May 8, to address the traumatic effects of stress on the body, mind and spirit, with a focus on what health care providers are experiencing on the frontlines. The Center has joined with Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut to facilitate this programming.
