FAIRFIELD, Conn., (September 11, 2017) – Fairfield’s contribution to the public good and service to the community were cited as strong considerations as to why Fairfield was named among the top 20 master’s degree granting institutions in the country by Washington Monthly , a publication focused on education and politicssupported in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Additionally, Fairfield was named among top schools in the Northeast for “Best Bang for Your Buck in the Northeast,” and 2 nd in “Earnings Performance,” second only to Harvard University.  These rankings consider schools that help non-wealthy students “attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.”

To qualify for the lists, Washington Monthly gathered data from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard, which includes information on earnings after graduation, student loan repayment rates, and the percentage of first-generation students attending a school’s programs. Fairfield, was found to enroll a high proportion of first-generation students, with graduates who showed strong post-college outcomes.

“Fairfield continues to rise as the modern Jesuit institution, and our rankings reflect our strength,” said University President Mark R. Nemec, PhD. “Over the past several years, Fairfield has seen record applications and enrollment, and this year we have enjoyed the largest total undergraduate enrollment in our history. Students and their parents know that a Fairfield education leads to strong outcomes after graduation.”

Fairfield’s Dolan School of Business and Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies received high accolades from College Factual’s annual rankings. Business programs in accounting and marketing, as well programs in the Egan School, respectively, were named among the top 2% in the country. Graduates from the Management, Finance and Nursing programs were all among the top 20 for Highest Paid Graduates.
