FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 3, 2017) — The Russian National Ballet Theatre returns to the Quick Center stage on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 8 p.m. to perform fairytale favorite, Cinderella . The lavish costumes, lush scenery and Prokofiev’s jubilant score make the presentation of this masterpiece a must-see for any fan of the ballet.

Cinderella is a full-length ballet in two acts with music composed by Sergei Prokofiev and a script by Nikolai Volkov. Prokofiev’s melodious composition has inspired many choreographers. The piece was first composed between 1940 and 1944 and it premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia.

In 1989, Sergei Radchenko founded the Russian National Ballet Company, which initially included the Russian National Ballet Theatre. Sergei and his wife, Elena Radchenko, a premiere ballerina with the Mariinsky-Kirov Theatre and Bolshoi Theatre, also created the Moscow Festival Ballet. Both companies have achieved international acclaim.

The company’s broad repertoire also includes, Swan Lake , Sleeping Beauty , Don Quixote , Giselle , Carmen Suite , La Bayadere , The Nutcracker , Coppelia , Les Sylphides , Romeo and Juliet and a range of concert numbers of Russian and foreign world classics. Their high quality performances exhibit outstanding scenery, costumes and stage and set designs, which have garnered praise from critics and audiences worldwide.

The company endeavors to ensure that the magnificence of classical Russian ballet is accessible to all audiences, touring smaller company ensembles appropriate for venues like the Quick Center.
