FAIRFIELD, Conn. (January 10, 2017) — Cameron Carpenter, using a digital organ smashes the stereotypes of organists and organ music, all the while generating international acclaim and controversy unprecedented in his field. He will use the International Touring Organ – a monumental digital organ of his own design  — when he performs at the Quick Center on Saturday, January 28, 2017.

Carpenter’s International Touring Organ was officially introduced with two Lincoln Center concerts in March 2014 and it is a sight – and sound – to behold. The organ is comprised of a modular five-keyboard console; a processing system that uses samples from several organs that have been important to Cameron’s artistic development; and an impressive and innovative concert audio system capable of filling the largest concert halls with sound.

Carpenter’s Sony Music debut album If You Could Read My Mind entered Billboard's Traditional Classical chart at No. 1 on its US release and made Carpenter the first solo organist ever nominated for a Grammy Award for a solo album.  His repertoire ranges from the complete works of J.S. Bach and César Franck, to hundreds of transcriptions of non-organ works, original compositions and collaborations with jazz and pop artists.

The Los Angeles Times touts:  “Carpenter is one of the rare musicians who changes the game of his instrument… He is a smasher of cultural and classical music taboos. He is technically the most accomplished organist I have ever witnessed… And, most important of all, the most musical.”

Carpenter will perform at the Quick Center for the Arts on the Fairfield University campus on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 7 p.m. Tickets, on sale now, are $50, $55 for the public, and $38 for QCA members. Please visit or call the box office at 203-254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396. This event is sponsored by Hi Ho/Circle Inn, Moffly Media, and WSHU.
