The Fairfield University Glee Club Holiday Concert “Glad Tidings We Bring.” | Press Releases

FAIRFIELD, Conn., (November 17, 2016) — The Fairfield University Glee Club presents its annual holiday concert “Glad Tidings We Bring,”on Friday, December 2 at8 p.m., and Saturday, December 3 at 2 p.m., at Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts . The Glee Club will perform choral music from several different traditions, including European and American holiday traditions. The concert, conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M, includes brass and percussion, as well as members in a variety of collaborations. Also performing are Sweet Harmony , an all-female ensemble of chamber singers, The Bensonians, an all-male a cappella group, and the Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Maxwell. Tickets: $10 general admission; $6, students.

The evening will begin with the “Processional for Christmas,” and will continue through a program of holiday music, including “Awake the Harp,” “American Christmas,” “O Nata Lux, Light Born of Light,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and more. The Glee Club will also perform “Glory to God” from Mass in Honor of St. Robert Bellarmine, which was commissioned by The Center for Catholic Studies in recognition of the 10th anniversary of Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J.’s appointment as President in 2004.

The Fairfield University Glee Club, founded in 1947, is the oldest club on the Fairfield University campus and numbers over 130 undergraduate and graduate singers. This is Glee Club's 70 ^th Anniversary season.

The Fairfield University Chamber Singers is the first mixed choir on campus. Founded in 1982, it is an ensemble of auditioned singers, with an advanced repertoire, both sacred and secular. The combined Fairfield University Choirs have presented concerts in churches, schools, recital and concert halls throughout Europe.
