FAIRFIELD, Conn. (May 3, 2016) — Experience the Berlin Philharmonic in Cinemas, lead by legendary conductor Sir Simon Rattle, with this unique screening of a concert presented in HD at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 7 p.m.

Sir Simon Rattle, “one of the greatest conductors of all time,” (BBC Music Magazine), leads the Berlin Philharmonic showcasing Beethoven’s masterful brilliance. The pre-recorded event will start with exclusive interviews with conductor Sir Simon Rattle as well as members of the orchestra, taking the viewer on an intimate journey through the Berlin Philharmonic’s October 2015 cycle of Beethoven’s nine symphonies. After the interviews, there will be one intermission followed by two tremendously expressive works: the inspired Symphony No. 4 and the impassioned Symphony No. 7.

When discussing Beethoven, Sir Simon Rattle has stated that “to do Beethoven symphonies is hard enough, but to do a cycle of Beethoven symphonies is something very different.” This program uses the juxtaposition between the more classical, sunny and cheerful Fourth (in B flat major) and the powerful, almost ecstatic, Seventh (in A major) to create a not-to-be-missed musical evening.

Tickets are $15, $13 for senior citizens, and $5 for children and Fairfield University students. For tickets, visit or call the box office at 203-254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396.
