Fairfield University Ranked #1 for Top Value Counseling Master’s Degrees in Connecticut | Press Releases

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (July 20, 2016) — Fairfield University’s Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions (GSEAP) counseling program was recently ranked 1st in Connecticut by Top Counseling Schools .org.

Programs were ranked based on completion and licensing exam pass rates, job placement, accreditation length, research productivity and tuition and fees. Accredited counseling programs in Connecticut were identified using the online directory of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

"The entire counselor education community at Fairfield University is thrilled with this prestigious ranking, which is due to many factors, beginning with our long established record as the first counselor education program in Connecticut to be accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs,” said Diana Hulse, Ed.D, NCC, LPC, professor and Chair of the Counselor Education department at Fairfield’s Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions. “Our excellence is also due to the exemplary training and preparation offered by our strong and devoted core and adjunct faculty and the outstanding dedication and performance of our students. Our responsibility to provide a high level of clinical training prepares all of our students to represent the counseling profession as licensed professional counselors and national certified counselors. Our use of a rigorous training model, often only seen in doctoral programs, and the use of our state-of-the art training facility at Dolan West, all combine into a counseling program that prepares our students to meet the counseling needs of a diverse group of people in our multicultural world of the 21st Century."

Fairfield University’s Graduate School for Education and Allied Professions (GSEAP) houses two CACREP accredited master’s in counseling degrees. Utilizing state-of-the art Counselor Education Lab and Training Center, specialized programs, accommodating schedules, engaging and interactive instruction, and a variety of field experiences, Fairfield University’s programs provide opportunities that can serve to further our students’ professional development or increase their readiness for post-masters studies.
