Fairfield University Announces Appointment of New Chief Information Officer

Jonathan Carroll ‘91 has been named Fairfield University’s Chief Information Officer.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (December 1, 2016) — Fairfield University is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Carroll ’91, as the institutions Chief Information Officer (CIO). Mr. Carroll will oversee academic computing, enterprise applications systems and services, networking and telecommunications, information security, data center operations and user support training and outreach. He will build upon Fairfield’s foundation of success including a recent upgrade of classroom technology, a tablet computing initiative for faculty and upgraded wireless networking in all student and academic spaces.

“I am delighted to welcome Jon back to Fairfield as our Chief Information Officer,” said Kevin Lawlor, ’79, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Fairfield. “Jon brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Fairfield University, and we are excited to have him bring his skills and experience to the team.”

Mr. Carroll is a 1991 graduate of Fairfield University and has served in a number of IT leadership roles at University of Connecticut Health over the past 12 years involving IT operations, security (ISO), academic technology and infrastructure and systems development. His background also includes other industries and companies such as IBM and United Technologies. Most recently, Mr. Carroll served as the Chief Information Officer for UCONN Health.

Mr. Carroll will officially begin his new role on December 19th, 2016.
