Fairfield University is hosting a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony for the Center for Nursing and Health Studies building, on Thursday, April 21, beginning at 9:30am.
Who:
Fairfield University students and administrators, faculty and staff for the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, and local community leaders. University President, Jeffrey P. von Arx will make remarks, along with provost Lynn Babington and Egan School of Nursing dean, Meredith Kazer.
When/Where:
Thursday, April 21, 9:30 a.m. Fairfield University campus. Behind the School of Nursing by the St. Francis Statue. Refreshments will follow the ceremony in the adjacent Bannow Science Center.
What:
As the University continues to be a leader in nursing education, the groundbreaking ceremony will signify the beginning of the next journey for the nursing and health sciences programs. The building will house advanced learning environments and equipment, including state-of-the-art clinical settings and workspaces like the anesthesia simulation room, a control room, which allows students to craft simulated experiences. And the women’s health, neonatal ICU, and home care room.
The facility will also house the Kanarek Center for Palliative & Supportive Nursing Education. Palliative Care is the treatment of individuals who are suffering, or in the final stages of life. The goal of palliative care is to allow individuals and their families to experience enhanced quality of life with support from a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
