EVIDENCE/Ronald K. Brown returns to the Quick Center stage with a fusion of culture and dance

The dance company EVIDENCE and Ronald K. Brown join the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 8 p.m. for an enriching night of culture and dance fusion. Founded by Brown in 1985 and based in Brooklyn, the company aims to promote understanding of the human experience in the African diaspora through dance and storytelling.

Tickets are $45, $35, $30 and $5 for Fairfield University students. For tickets, visit www.quickcenter.com or call the box office at 203-254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396.

Hailed as a "modern dance savior" by The New York Times , Ronald K. Brown fuses the form and rhythm of African dance with contemporary choreography to create movement that is as much soulful as it is energizing. Featuring his recent collaboration with acclaimed jazz pianist Jason Moran and his trio The Bandwagon, EVIDENCE will present their latest work, The Subtle One, which reflects on the presence of our ancestors and their profound impact on our lives. The Subtle One is paired with additional audience favorites of Brown’s works, including Grace , one of the most popular works in the repertory of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, a rapturous depiction of a journey to the promised land set to recordings by Duke Ellington, Roy Davis and Fela Kuti.

The performance is sponsored, in part, by the Westport Inn and Moffly Media. In addition, this project is supported by Connecticut Humanities, a nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, which supports cultural and historic organizations that tell the state’s stories, build community and enrich lives. The project is also funded in part by the Expeditions program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the six New England state arts agencies.
