Upcoming talk by author to explore how to develop a business plan

Image: Cliff Ennico On Monday, July 28, 2014 at 7 p.m., Fairfield University will present a talk by Fairfield, Connecticut attorney and syndicated columnist Cliff Ennico for small business owners in need of a primer on how to develop a business plan.

Free and open to the public, Ennico, author of "Small Business Survival Guide" (Adams Media), will give a talk entitled, "Twelve Steps to Building Your Own Successful Business." It will take place in Fairfield University's Charles F. Dolan School of Business, Room 110B. The talk is aimed at entrepreneurs looking to build successful businesses, either full-time or part-time, as well as those who have an existing small business that needs to grow. Fairfield University's School of Engineering and the Dolan School of Business are sponsoring the event, in collaboration with the Inventors Association of Connecticut.

Ennico, an expert on the legal and tax issues facing small businesses, is also a small business consultant. "Many books have been written about business plans, but for most small businesses it all boils down to asking and finding the answers to twelve very specific questions," said Doug Lyon, Ph.D., professor of computer engineering at Fairfield and president of the Inventors Association of Connecticut. "This fast-paced, entertaining program will walk you through the twelve steps to building a successful small business, and tell you how to solve your most pressing business challenges."

Attendees will be taught such lessons as the four steps to building a marketing plan; the two reasons why anyone buys anything; the four types of competitors, and how to develop a winning competitive strategy.

During the 1990s, Ennico hosted the PBS television series "MoneyHunt," the first reality TV show for entrepreneurs. He writes the weekly "Succeeding in Your Business" column for "Creators Syndicate," appearing in hundreds of newspapers and online venues worldwide, as well as guest columns for "Entrepreneur" and other business magazines. A member of eBay's education team and a frequent guest on eBay Radio and other online radio programs devoted to e-commerce, Ennico speaks to business groups nationwide.
