On Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 7 p.m., John Seiffer, entrepreneur in residence for CT Next, will speak at Fairfield University about why that old adage can be completely wrong. Free and open to the public, Seiffer's talk, "Commercializing Your Idea," will provide insights on how some business ideas make it out of the lab with successful outcomes and why some don't. He’ll also explore the process of bringing new products to the marketplace and explain how to develop business models.

The event is sponsored by Fairfield University's School of Engineering, the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, and the Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT). It will take place in the Dolan School of Business Dining Room, and is part of a series of free events that the schools and IACT present to educate budding entrepreneurs and inventors.

Seiffer is a mentor for CTNext, Connecticut's innovation ecosystem that supports the success of companies and entrepreneurs by providing guidance, resources and networks to accelerate their growth.

He has been an entrepreneur since 1979, and a consultant helping growing companies since 1994. He's also an angel investor. In 1998, he was president of the International Coach Federation, and in 2012 he became president of the Angel Investor Forum. On his blog, 'CEO Boot Camp' (www.CEOBootCamp.com), he shares lessons on running a small firm.
