Stags needed to donate, volunteer for 'Fairfield 375 Food Drive'

Image: Food drive Calling all Stags! Fairfield University is a partner in the historic Town of Fairfield's 375th Anniversary Food Drive.

The Town has asked the Fairfield University community to donate non-perishable canned meals (beef stew, ravioli, chili...) to this endeavor bringing together schools, houses of worships, and businesses to help people in need.  Please bring your food donations to the drop-off point at Fairfield Ludlowe High School on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or to a box at the Barone Campus Center Info Desk by Friday, April 25.

Volunteers are also needed on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 to sort the University's donated food, load it into vans, and transport the donations to Fairfield Ludlowe High School. They will receive free t-shirts. Campus clubs and groups are encouraged to take part. To sign up as a volunteer, go to http://ffldfooddrive375.org/volunteers-needed/

Grocery store gift cards from Stop 'n' Shop, Shop Rite or Whole Foods are welcome as are monetary donations. They should be sent via intercampus mail to Wylie Blake in Campus Ministry, in the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola (EGN), Room 109.

Proceeds will benefit Operation Hope, the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, the Thomas Merton House and A Project From the Heart. These local organizations feed hundreds of families in the greater Fairfield area each week, while sending thousands of care packages to troops overseas.
