What inventors need for success can vary greatly. On Monday, October 28, 2013 at 7 p.m., a free talk on that subject - "Matching Your Success Strategy To Your Invention"
 - will be held in Fairfield University's Dolan School of Business Dining Room.

Open to the public, the event will feature Manny Ratafia, an entrepreneur, executive, angel investor, and management consultant. It is co-sponsored by Fairfield University's School of Engineering and Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT).

"Commercializing a product and achieving financial success will require a very different approach if your product is a household item or a medical device or an industrial tool," said Douglas Lyon, Ph.D. professor of computer engineering and president of IACT. "Manny will discuss the strategies needed for success depending on the type of invention or technology and will provide advice to inventors and entrepreneurs in the audience."

Ratafia has founded and run ventures in a variety of technology areas and has consulted to chief executive officers, owners, and senior executives of companies in a range of technology and market areas. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Cooper Union, and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT and in engineering and applied physics from Harvard. He earned an MBA from Dartmouth. He has been published and quoted in more than 100 publications in the U.S., Europe, and Japan, including Business Week, Forbes, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times as well as Nature and JAMA .
