Image: Chelsea Wang Who: Pianist, Chelsea Wang. Born in 1993, Chelsea Wang is the second prize winner of the 2012 New York International Piano Competition, a biennial event presented under the auspices of The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation. From West Des Moines, Iowa, Ms. Wang has garnered many national and international awards including third prize at the 2012 Music Teachers National Association Senior Piano Competition, Best Interpretation of a Bach Work at the 2010 Eastman International Piano Competition and Best Interpretation of a Work by Franz Liszt at the 2009 Liszt-Garrison International Piano Competition. Ms. Wang currently studies with Meng-Chieh Liu and Ignat Solzhenitsyn at the Curtis Institute of Music.

What: The Young Artists Series, presented byFairfield University, in association with The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation, is a series of free classical piano concerts taking place at the Quick Center featuring gifted young musicians. The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation, through its flagship program, The New York International Piano Competition, is committed to furthering the education, recognition and fostering of a new generation of talented young musicians, directly serving pianists ages 16-21. The Foundation helps aspirants achieve their personal and professional goals through mentoring, career guidance, artistic development, and performance opportunities throughout the year .

Mozart (1756-1791), Rondo in A Minor, K. 511 ; Sergei Prokofieff (1891-1953), Sonata No. 6 in A Major, Op. 82; Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), Sonata in E flat Major, Op. 27, No. 1 ;  Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849), Rondo in E flat Major, Op. 16 ; and Nikolai Kapustin (b. 1937), Variations, Op. 41 .
