Humor author/blogger to visit Fairfield University Bookstore

Image: Alena Dillon Alena Dillon, a humor writer and blogger and alumna of Fairfield's MFA in Creative Writing Program, will read from and sign her first book, "I Thought We Agreed to Pee in the Ocean," at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, at Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road, Fairfield. Sponsored by the MFA in Creative Writing Program, the event is free and open to the public.

Dillon's book is a collection of stories that capture life's absurdities from universal experiences, such as diet frustration, to situations uniquely Dillon's own, such as pounding on the side of a moving Mister Softee truck. Dillon tackles everything from love and rejection to ill-timed snorting and snarky baristas with wit and wisdom.

"Fiercely entertaining," said Dr. Gina Barreca, author of "It's Not That I'm Bitter, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying about Visible Panty Lines and Conquered the World." "A fun and funny read, with heart and smarts."

Dillon has been published on The Huffington post, The Rumpus, The Long River Review, Points in Case, The Big Jewel, The Yellow Ham, and more.
