Leonardi, chief executive officer and executive director of Connecticut Innovations (CI) - an organization that helps emerging companies research, develop, and market new products and services - will speak at Fairfield University as part of the series of events co-presented by Fairfield's School of Engineering and the Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT).

Free and open to the public, the event will take place Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 7 p.m., in the DiMenna Nyselius Library, Room 107C, on the Fairfield campus. Her talk is entitled "Getting Funding from Connecticut Innovations," in which she will elaborate on CI and how it provides strategic capital and operational insight to push the frontiers of high-tech industries, such as energy, biotechnology, information technology and photonics.

Leonardi manages Connecticut Innovation's array of business startup and growth initiatives, which include diverse lending initiatives, venture and equity investment funds, and programs to support innovation, entrepreneurship, collaboration and commercialization. Her talk will explore CI today and its evolution. She'll identify CI's successes over the years, including discussing a few big winners and her vision for future growth, according to Dr. Douglas Lyon, professor of computer engineering and IACT president. She is a veteran investment and venture capital executive with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.
