Mike Francesa and The FAN coming to Fairfield University

Image: Mike Francesa The flagship radio station of New York sports, WFAN Sports Radio 66 (AM) and 101.9 (FM), will be broadcasting live from Fairfield University, with award-winning sports-talk show personality Mike Francesa hosting his popular radio program from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 . The show will be streamed on www.wfan.com and available on mobile devices via the Radio.com app. The broadcast will originate from the lobby of the Charles F. Dolan School of Business . The program will also be simulcast on television via the YES Network.

Now in his 24th consecutive year in afternoon drive, Mike Francesa has firmly established himself as the most successful sports-talk show host in the history of radio. For 19 years, Mike teamed with Christopher Russo on the iconic "Mike and the Mad Dog" program, widely recognized as one of the most important sports radio programs ever. As the cornerstone of WFAN's all-sports format, they revolutionized an industry. Since 2008, Mike Francesa's afternoon program, heard daily on WFAN from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and simulcast via the YES Network, has grown to even greater heights. He also hosts the highly-rated "NFL Now" on Sunday mornings, now in its 26th season. This past September, Mike won the Marconi Award as "Major Market Personality" for the second time. He joined a very select list of multiple Marconi winners and is the first sportscaster to ever earn radio's biggest honor more than once. His drive-time program captured the 2012 Cynopsis Sports Media Award as the nation's best radio program. Talkers Magazine recently recognized Mike as the No. 1 sports-talk show host in the country and named him the 35th most important personality in the history of radio, an honor that grows in stature when it is noted that Howard Cosell (21) was the only other sports figure in the top 60. The St. John's University graduate resides on Long Island with his wife, Roe and their children, Jack, Emily and Harrison.

WFAN is the flagship station of four Tri-State area professional sports franchises: the New York Mets, the New York Giants, the New Jersey Devils and the Brooklyn Nets. As the world's first 24-hour all-sports radio station, WFAN remains the premier sports talk radio station. Since its debut on July 1, 1987, hundreds of stations have copied the all-sports format, but none have achieved the success and the popularity of The FAN.
