Sarah Z. Sleeper, a 2012 graduate of Fairfield University M.F.A. in Creative Writing Program, will read from her work at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 27 at the Bellarmine Museum of Art. The museum is located on the lower level of Bellarmine Hall on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Sleeper collaborated with the museum on "ekphrasis ii," in which she responded in prose to six pieces in the museum's permanent collection and six more in a temporary exhibit of works by Everett Raymond Kinstler. Summer visitors to the museum's galleries were invited to view the works and read her responses collected in a booklet.

Sleeper's "flash prose," as she calls it, comments on everything from Kinstler's portrait of author Tom Wolfe to a Mexican figure of a bat to Shrine of Saint Lachtim's Arm , a gemstone-encrusted Irish reliquary on loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They follow in the tradition of ekphrasis, the practice of responding to art through the written word. Her work will be in the museum until Friday, September 28, when the Kinstler exhibition, "Pulps to Portraits: Everett Raymond Kinstler" closes.
