Quick Center for the Arts at 8 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2012. Morris Media Group is the Media Sponsor for "An Evening with Paula Cole." Tickets are $45, $40, and $35.

Paula Cole is a Grammy-winning recording artist and 7-time Grammy nominee who has enthralled audiences with her soaring, agile soprano. As the first woman in history to solely produce and receive the best Producer Grammy nomination for her work, "This Fire", Cole has broken boundaries with a searcher's spirit. Her music ruled the airwaves and the Billboard charts in the late '90s with hits like "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" which climbed to #8, and "I Don't Want to Wait," a song also used on the television program "Dawson's Creek." She has sold approximately three million albums, and her latest, "Ithaca," is her sixth release in a career that spans seventeen years.

Born the daughter of musicians, Paula Cole studied jazz singing and improvisation at Boston's Berklee College of Music before attracting rapt attention as a featured vocalist on Peter Gabriel's 1993-1994 Secret World Live tour. Cole released her debut album, Harbinger , in 1994, followed by 1996's self-produced This Fire , which spawned the two smash hits "Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?" and "I Don't Want to Wait." In 1997, Cole was nominated for seven Grammy Awards, including "Producer of the Year" and "Album of the Year," and took home the award for "Best New Artist." In 1999, Cole released her third album, Amen , then decided to take some time off following the birth of her daughter Sky in 2001. Several years later, Cole was lured back to record-making by a friend, Blood, Sweat & Tears' drummer Bobby Colomby, who produced her intimate, jazz-influenced collection Courage , which she released in 2007.

Emotionally deep and thrilling performances are a trademark. Poetically melodic and fiercely touching, intelligent writing makes Cole stand apart. Other artists such as Herbie Hancock, Annie Lennox, to Katherine McPhee have covered her compositions. With a loving allegiance to her fans, she maintains loyal communication through the web and after her live shows.
