Fairfield University's Bellarmine Museum of Art presents free monthly screenings from June through September 2012, of the documentary film "Everett Raymond Kinstler: An Artist's Journey." The screenings are presented in conjunction with the current exhibition, Everett Raymond Kinstler: Pulps to Portraits , and take place at the Bellarmine Museum at 12 noon on the following dates: Wednesday, June 27, 2012; Wednesday, July 18, 2012; Wednesday, August 22, 2012; Tuesday, September 11, 2012.

Everett Raymond Kinstler (b. 1926) is one of America's most celebrated, respected and prolific portrait artists. He has produced over 2,100 portraits in his career, and his works are represented in prestigious art institutions across the country, including the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the White House. He continues to paint every day and splits his time between his home in Easton, CT, and New York City, where he has had a studio at the National Arts Club for more than sixty years. The film, "Everett Raymond Kinstler: An Artist's Journey" takes an in-depth look at Kinstler's life and career, featuring interviews with President and Mrs. Gerald Ford, Tony Bennett, Carol Burnett and writer Tom Wolfe. It examines an art career that has influenced art and artists worldwide and is part of the Art Spirit Films series. The film is narrated by F. Murray Abraham and directed by Colin Patrick Russel, with executive producer, Dianne B. Bernhard. Released in 2004, it has an approximate running time of 56 minutes.

The exhibition Everett Raymond Kinstler: Pulps to Portraits, on view from June 14, 2012, through September 28, 2012 , features thirty-three works and highlights a number of the artist's portraits of well-known personalities from the worlds of government, entertainment, and literature. The show, which was originally organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA, also features a selection of Kinstler's early work as an illustrator of "pulp" fiction book covers, magazines, and comic book pages - pieces that continue to resonate in his paintings to this day.

Other exhibition programming includes "Hold That Pose! Portraiture for Children" a Family Day , for children ages seven and up from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2012, and "Gallery Talk with Everett Raymond Kinstler" at 5 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012 . Free admission to all events and to the museum.

The Bellarmine Museum of Art is located in Bellarmine Hall on the campus of Fairfield University, at 1073 N. Benson Road in Fairfield, Connecticut. Admission is free. The museum is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the University is in session. Summer hours: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday 9:30-12 noon.
