Quick Center for the Arts, chances are you will. Imagine a theatre experience that transcends the barriers of culture, age, language and gravity, with brilliant colors, spectacular use of movement, and pure inventiveness. Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. has exactly that, plus drama, laughter and audience interaction in every show, all adding up to memories that last forever. Tickets are $15 adults, $12 children .

The Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. consists of founder member Fred Garbo, who last summer received the "Award of Excellence" from the International Jugglers' Association, and Daielma Santos, who was born in São Paulo, Brazil, graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance of London, and trained in dance/choreography, mime and theater. Bursting with original, pneumatic suits of all shapes and sizes, dexterous juggling, dance, hilarious visual comedy, mischief and even art, the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theatre Co. premiered to sold-out houses on Broadway at the New Victory Theatre in March 1998, returning for a four-week run in 2002. The Company has appeared in Morocco, Scotland, Spain, Ireland, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Canada, Chile, China and all across the United States.

Critics world-wide agree, the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. is truly something to see. The Glasgow Herald says they're "unique, outrageous, marvelous." The Hong Kong Standard calls them "some of the funniest and cleverest exponents of mime, juggling, acrobatics and inflatables ... in theatre today." The Royal Gazette, Bermuda, describes the performance as "a wildly entertaining balleto-pneumatic show that melds art with aerodynamics and leaves the audience howling in its wake. And The New York Times labels it "buoyant entertainment!"

Image: Fred Garbo Fred Garbo has been a professional performer since 1974. He trained and performed with the Master of Illusion, Tony Montanaro. He was also the man inside Sesame Street's Barkley the Dog and the chief juggler in the Broadway hit musical "Barnum." He performed in the high-flying, torch twirling, Obie Award-winning "Foolsfire," with the notable new vaudevillians Michael Moschen and Bob Berky, in a show that toured Europe, Hong Kong and Australia after a successful off-Broadway run. He tumbled at Lincoln Center with the New York Opera's Turandot, and worked with MOMIX Dance Company in Brazil. For the last 19 years he has been inventing inflatables with artist/builder George York.

Daielma Santos has been working and touring around the world with Fred Garbo for more than 18 years. She was the principal dancer with the Opera Paulista Company of São Paulo and performed with several companies in Brazil including the Cisne-Negro Ballet Company. Acclaimed as a talented choreographer and teacher, her dance performances span Brazil and Uruguay, and for many years she worked as a teacher/ resident choreographer and principal dancer with the Portland Ballet Company in Maine.

Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. Lighting Designer is Nicole Sirois, who has toured with the Bolshoi Ballet Company, and who works regularly as a master electrician for Bowdoin College, Port Opera, the Portland Symphony Orchestra and Moonlighting Production Services. She is also a production electrician for Holland America.
