Modern China topic of free Fairfield University Bookstore talk


Image: Danke Li Danke Li, Ph.D., associate professor of history at Fairfield University, will give a free talk, "China Today: Perception and Reality," on Thursday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road, Fairfield. Her lecture is presented by the University's Learning for a Lifetime Program and is free and open to the public.

Dr. Li plans to discuss the country from the perspective of a China-born historian specializing in modern China. At Fairfield, Dr. Li has taught the courses "Europe and World in Transition," "Modern China," "Modern Japan," "Asian Studies," and "Non-Western Culture: China," among others. Her research interests include history of Chinese women, China's War of Resistance against Japan, popular culture, and China's economic reforms and social changes.

She received her bachelor's degree from Sichuan University and holds a master's degree from Michigan State University and a doctorate from The University of Michigan.
