Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts begins its 2011-2012 season this month with programming that exemplifies the diversity and excellence of its 21st season in which more than 100 events between now and July 2012 are featured. The Regina A. Quick Center's September 2011 event listings follows:

Image: Met HD Thursday, September 15, 2011, Live at 2 p.m., encore at 7 p.m. (Theatre)
National Theatre Live in HD, "One Man, Two Guvnors"
Quick Center audiences can get a ticket to the hilarious hit comedy-farce One Man, Two Guvnors - currently sold out in London - and enjoy the critically-acclaimed production broadcast live in HD from London's National Theatre. This comedy, written by English playwright Richard Bean about a tough-guy thug trying to keep his two employers apart, has received rave reviews. Tickets are $25 regular, $20 seniors, and $15 students/children.

Saturday, September 17, 2011, 8 p.m. (Dance)
"Ballroom! 'We are the Champions!'"
Ballroom Dancesport Extravaganza features six couples - all world and American ballroom champions - performing in spectacular showcase presentations. The cast includes one of the world's most renowned Argentine Tango couples, plus 13-year-old sensations Patryk Ploszaj and Anna Kaczmarski who wowed audiences on America's Got Talent , and So You Think You Can Dance star Iveta Lukosiute. Free, pre-performance ballroom dance lessons take place at 7 p.m. Audience members are invited to a "Meet the Stars" reception following the performance. Single tickets are $40, $35, and $30.

Sunday, September 18, 2011, 5 p.m. (Music)
Sandip Burman , Indian Classical Music
The Quick Center's 2011-2012 Music Season opens in the Wien Experimental Theatre with Sandip Burman , an accomplished tabla artist and ambassador for Indian classical music. Mr. Burman's unyielding dedication and enthusiasm have enabled him to grow musically beyond tabla playing and into tabla tarang, sitar, and voice. Tickets are $20.

Open VISIONS Forum
Chuck Todd: "State of the Nation: Polling the Mood"
The Quick Center's signature Open VISIONS Forum begins its 2011-2012 season with a conversation with political analyst Chuck Todd. Familiar to many as Chief White House correspondent for NBC News, contributing editor to Meet the Press , and occasional contributor to news outlets such as The Nation, Mr. Todd will offer his considerable insights. Beyond the Rolling Fire: Paintings by Robyn W. Fairclough"
The Thomas J. Walsh Gallery, Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts
Beyond the Rolling Fire: Paintings by Robyn W. Fairclough" is a new exhibition that features works by American artist Robyn W. Fairclough, recognized for her figurative works of children and adolescents engaged in activity by the water. Last October, a devastating fire in her Vermont studio destroyed 35-years-worth of her paintings, sketches, writings, and books. Since the fire, the artist has chosen to situate her figures in more invented, interior environments as well as in her more traditional outdoor scenes. This exhibition of 30 paintings and 15 drawings will showcase a body of earlier works alongside new works that have been very much impacted by the fire. The Thomas J. Walsh Gallery is free and open to the public. Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., and approximately one hour prior to curtain and during intermission at Quick Center 2011-2012 events.

The Inspired Writer Series
Ingrid Betancourt: "Even Silence Has an End"
Ingrid Betancourt, former senator and presidential candidate in Colombia, was taken hostage and tortured by guerrilla forces for six years in the Colombian jungle. In this lecture, she discusses Even Silence Has an End , her chronicle of this harrowing ordeal, which received high praise and comparison to the writing of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. Janie Leatherman, Ph.D.: "Breaking Taboo: Stopping Sexual Violence in War"
Fairfield University Professor of Politics and Director of International Studies Janie Leatherman will discuss her new book, Sexual Violence and Armed Conflict , which confronts what has been called the "greatest silence in history," the sexual violence in contemporary armed conflict. While covering the causes of the violence she also examines the work being done by international humanitarian interventions and local NGOs. Admission is complimentary.
