A dozen different players scored as the Fairfield University women's lacrosse team opened Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Lacrosse League play with a convincing 19-4 win over host Siena College on Wednesday afternoon. The win improves the Stags to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in league play, while the Saints fall to 5-5 on the season and 0-1.

The victory is the Stags 19th consecutive MAAC regular season victory, the second longest in school, and conference, history. Fairfield won 22 straight conference regular season games from April 15, 2000 through April 4, 2004.

Chloe Mangan started the scoring with an unassisted goal just 67 seconds into the contest and 7:22 seconds later Amanda Best scored a free position shot to give the Stags a 5-0 edge and all the offense they would need. Fairfield's game opening run would reach eight on Best's second of the game with 13:36 to play before intermission. For the second consecutive game the Stags allowed just one first-half goal as they built a 12-1 half-time lead.

Siena scored first in the second-half to momentarily stop the offensive rush of the Stags, but Fairfield answered with four consecutive goals, three from Brittany Bare, to build a 15-2 advantage. After Erin Hepper touched net for the second time midway through the second-half to make the score 16-3, the Stags would tally three of the final four goals of the game to provide the final margin. The final two goals of the game were landmark tallies as they represented the first collegiate goal for both Samantha Mazzeo and Maggie Ebbott.

Katie Keenan faced little pressure throughout the game, just seeing five shots in 47:33 of action to earn the win. She made two saves as well as picking up a ground ball. Kelley Brady minded the net for the final 12:27 and made one save while allowing a goal. Kristin Concordia played the entire game in net for Siena stopping nine of the 28 shots Fairfield put on net.

Mangan finished as the game's leading scorer with five points, as she scored twice and handed out a game-high three assists. Bare led all goal scorers with three, as well as handing out one assist. Alex Clark, Katie Mackay, Best, and Addie Reilly all scored twice in the game for Fairfield, with Clark adding an assist as well. Ebbott had two points in the game, as did Melanie Raso, as she also handed out her first collegiate assist.

Fairfield finished the game with a 36-11 advantage in shots, including going 5-7 in free position chances. The Stags had a 17-8 edge in draw controls with Renee L'Heureux, Mangan and Bare each recording three apiece. The Stags also had a 17-1 edge in ground balls as Lauren Lavin picked up a team-best three. The Stags committed just 10 turnovers, while Siena had 15, seven being caused by Fairfield.

The Stags are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host Marist College at 1 p.m. on Lessing Field.
