Image: Lucia Lammermoor Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts presents The Met: Live in HD with Mary Zimmerman's hit production of Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" starring Natalie Dessay and Joseph Calleja in the live transmission Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. There is limited seating available for this performance. There will be an encore at 6 p.m. for which seats are still available. Tickets are $22 general, $20 seniors and $15 children and students. "Lucia di Lammermoor" is an Arts & Minds presentation.

Triumphant on Opening Night of the Met's 2007-2008 season as the fragile heroine of Donizetti's masterpiece, Dessay returns to the role of the innocent young woman driven to madness. Surrounding the soprano is Calleja as Edgardo, her lover. The New York Times called him "sensationally ardent as Lucia's lover ... one of the best roles of his young, exciting Met career." Also in the cast is Ludovic Tézier as the manipulative brother Enrico ("sung richly and acted with laconic ruefulness ..."), Kwangchul Youn as the well-meaning chaplain Raimondo ("burnished tone and great dignity ...") and the "charming" Matthew Plenk as Arturo, the arranged husband Lucia murders. Patrick Summers conducts.
