The Living Theology series, sponsored by Fairfield University's Center for Catholic Studies, continues this spring with workshops to help local Catholics and others learn about the latest thinking in the church.

Important issues of the day will be examined with a discerning eye from prominent scholars at Fairfield. Free and open to the public, they will take place in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library's Multimedia Room, on the Fairfield campus, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. • On Saturday, February 19 , Fr . Terrance Klein, visiting professor of Religious Studies , will present a workshop entitled, "Forgotten Foundations of Catholic Spirituality." "It explores the roots of Christian spirituality in the first centuries of the Church's life," he said. "Its contemporary usefulness will be an explanation of the spiritual significance of time and space, as well as the body and the liturgy, in a life of prayer."
• On Saturday, March 12 , Dr. John E. Thiel, professor of Religious Studies, will present a workshop entitled, "The Last Judgment ... and More." "The Last Judgment was an event that deeply concerned Medieval Christians, who worried about entering heaven and escaping hell," he said. "But for many contemporary Christians, the Last Judgment seems not to be a matter of concern at all. Why is this so? Are the ways to imagine the meaningfulness of the Last Judgment so that it might continue to inform contemporary Christian belief?"
• On Saturday, April 16 , Jamie Manson, National Catholic Reporter columnist and affiliate faculty in the Department of Religious Studies , will present a workshop entitled, "The Church and Young Catholics: Is There A Future?"
