Image: Glee Club The Fairfield University Glee Club celebrates three generations of passionate choristers when it joins with the Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut and the Fairfield County Children's Choir to present an afternoon of song in four parts on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. at the Quick Center for the Arts. Tickets are $25 adults, $22.50 seniors and $6 students. There will be a reception in the lobby following the concert. This concert is an Arts & Minds presentation.

Dr. Carole Ann Maxwell, artistic director and conductor of the Glee Club and the Mendelssohn Choir leads off the concert with the Glee Club singing the Fairfield University Alma Mater in an arrangement by Mac Callum. Beth Palmer is the accompanist. "Viva la Music" provides the singers an opportunity to express their joy and there is also room for reflection with "My Soul Is a River." The Chamber Singers give a rendition of "Praising Song" and the full Glee Club joins in with "Gloria" from Missa Carolae.

Jon Noyes, director of the Fairfield County Youth Choir, takes up the mantle in part two with the choir singing joyfully "Jubilate Deo." Taking the state of the world into account, the young singers express a heartfelt wish through song with "A Song To End All War." Reveling in their youth, they sing, "To Be Young" and they give thanks for "Simple Gifts." Popular music brings this segment of the concert to a close with "One Short Day" from "Wicked" and "We Are the World." Todd Simmons is the accompanist.

The Mendelssohn Choir brings some solemnity to the occasion with "Cantus Iacrimosus" from "Stabat Mater" and buoys the audience with the Lennon and McCartney song "Because." Part three ends with selections from "Mass #1 in C Major."

All three generations join together for the final part of the concert with three spectacular numbers ending with Paul Simon's "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
