Mark Gregorio has been named the new director of Media Relations at Fairfield University

Mark Gregorio Mark Gregorio has been named the new director of Media Relations at Fairfield University bringing with him more than 23 years of experience working in public relations, media relations, corporate broadcasting, and student activities. He joined the Division of Marketing and Communications on Monday, October 4. Nancy Habetz recently retired from the position after working for Fairfield for the past 31 years.

Martha Milcarek, assistant vice president for brand management and public relations, said of the appointment, "Mark has a proven track record as a marketing and communications professional, along with experience in academic settings and the working press. During the interview process, the interview committee was particularly impressed with Mark's appreciation of the University's Jesuit mission and identity, as well as our expectations to help build the image and reputation of the institution through increased media visibility."

A Connecticut native, Gregorio, of Kingston, Pennsylvania, previously served as director of Public Information and Special Assistant to the President at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. "Through a collaborative effort with all constituencies, the media relations office will continue to produce interesting news and information about events, people and activities at the University," Gregorio said. "It's exciting to be part of a vibrant campus community. I am looking forward to cultivating relationships and working with local and national media outlets to strengthen the position of the institution as a global leader in academics, research, and service."

Prior to his position at Wesley College, he was Public Information Coordinator for Penn State University Wilkes-Barre. He also held positions as program director for WBHT Citadel Broadcasting Corporation in Wilkes-Barre, operations director at KLLY Buckley Broadcasting in Bakersfield, California, and production director of WLEV Broadcasting in Allentown, Pennsylvania. While pursuing a master's degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University, he served as assistant director of Student Activities at the University and did a four-year stint at Post College in Waterbury, Connecticut. He earned a B.A. in English and Communications from Eastern Connecticut University.
