Undergraduate Ceremony: 9:30 a.m.

Graduate Student Ceremony: 3 p.m.

Where: Bellarmine Lawn, in back of Bellarmine Hall at Fairfield University. *In case of rain, the ceremonies will be held in Alumni Hall, on the Fairfield campus.

Media Credentials are required: Please call (203) 254-4000, ext. 2726.

Parking: Parking for media will be reserved at the top of the lower Canisius lot by the entrance to Lot C-5, near Bellarmine Hall. Media can drop off equipment at the front entrance of Bellarmine Hall up until 9:00 a.m.

Commencement Speakers

Undergraduate Ceremony: Dr. Katherine Lapp, a 1978 alumna of Fairfield, is executive vice president of Harvard University, where she oversees all financial, administrative, human resources, and capital planning functions as well as the administrative aspects of information technology for the university. Dr. Lapp will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.

Graduate Student Ceremony: A 1974 alumnus of Fairfield, Dr. James Abbruzzese is the M. G. and Lillie A. Johnson Chair for Cancer Treatment and Research and Chairman of the Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Born in Hartford, Conn., he is a leader in the field of pancreatic cancer research and treatment. He will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

Honorary Degree Recipients

Dr. Mayra Luz Pérez Díaz, the first woman to be named president of the Universidad Centroamericana (UCA) in Managua, Nicaragua.

Art historian Emily Rafferty, the first woman to be named president of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Rev. Daniel J. Harrington, S.J., professor of New Testament at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry.
