Image: Carole Ann Maxwell Conductor Carole Ann Maxwell , D.S.M., will hold auditions Tuesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. for the 17th season of the Fairfield University's Summer Festival Chorus (SFC) and the "Viva Vienna!" concert at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Experienced choral singers are invited to audition and should be prepared to sing vocal warm-ups and exercises. Previous participants need not audition.

Rehearsals for the concert, Saturday, July 31 at 7:30 p.m., are conducted in the Quick Center for the Arts' Kelley Theatre, a beautiful, air-conditioned hall with perfect acoustics. They will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from June 22 through July 29 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Members of the chorus share the energy, enthusiasm and dedication of Dr. Maxwell, one of America's most inspiring conductors of collegiate, community and professional choral ensembles. Many members of the ensemble have been with the SFC for many years and new members discover an opportunity to work with exciting and innovative programming that expands the singers' potential within the world of choral music. Rehearsals are designed to be exhilarating, social and rewarding.

Dr. Maxwell has conducted SFC since its inception 16 years ago and this year she has chosen to revel in the beautiful, luscious and playful music of Vienna. The chorus will explore the elegance and sophistication of the Viennese culture; the music of Franz Schubert, featuring his incomparable "Mass in G"; the inspiring "Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen" of Johannes Brahms; the sensual melodies of Strauss and Lehar; and Viennese stylings with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "The Merry Widow" and "The Flying Mouse."

Beth Palmer accompanies rehearsals and at performance and popular jazz performer and composer Joe Utterback is a featured piano soloist and will conduct at the concert.
