Jamie A. Hulley Arts Foundation presents the 8th Annual Benefit , An Evening for the Arts featuring the Jimmy Buffet tribute band, Parrotbeach with master of ceremonies David Raffauf. Orin Grossman, Fairfield University professor of music and a concert pianist presents The Romantic Piano: The Music of Chopin and Albéniz . Tickets are $35.

Radio Dramas

Radio Dramas brings a brand new collection of original Golden-Age radio dramas to the Black Box. With a crack radio troupe ensemble, audiences experience the reality of a 1940s era broadcast as actors scurry up to microphones at the last minute and jump in and out of character. Each broadcast has live sound effects and live music meant to heighten the drama. And there are vintage commercials and occasional great writing that create a surprising and vibrant evening.

Private Eye Mysteries is a celebration of a true mainstay of old-time radio, the gumshoe! Whether they're getting framed for murder, shot at, or hit on the head with a pistol, they're always ready with a wisecrack and they usually get their man. Joining the usual fedora-wearing fellas is a rare PI who's a dame! Single tickets are $25 or $60 for a series of three.

Thomas Lynch , poet, essayist and funeral director speaks on Language Feasts: Breaking Bread with the Dead . Admission is free.

Open VISIONS Forum opens the season with David Brooks , Op-Ed columnist of The New York Times. Tickets are $45.

Monday, September 20 at 8 p.m., Dolan School of Business Dining Room
Dr. Paul Knitter speaks on Without Buddha I Could Not Be a Christian: The Challenge of Global Religious Citizenship. Dr. Knitter is the Paul Tillich Professor of Theology, World Religions and Culture at the Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Admission is free.

Wednesday, September 22 at 8 p.m., Quick Center for the Arts
Open VISIONS Forum presents Eric Burns , media critic and journalist, formally of NBC News and Fox News Watch . Tickets are $45.

Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery

Thursday, September 23 to Sunday, December 5, Quick Center for the Arts
Seeing Things is a solo exhibition that includes Joel Carreiro's close reading and transformation of cultural objects from the past; Renaissance paintings, European drawings and decorative objects and medieval manuscripts. The alternate image that emerges adopts a new identity; one that is the result of his collaboration with the original artist.

Admission to the gallery is free. The hours are: Tuesday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday: Noon to 4 p.m. Closed Monday. The gallery is always open when performances occur at the Quick Center for the Arts .
