Fairfield University officials address the crisis in Haiti

Image: Mass Rev. Gerry Blaszczak, S.J., University Chaplain, Rev. Michael J. Doody, S.J., Director of Campus Ministry, and Mark C. Reed, Vice President for Administrative & Student Affairs, issued a statement today, calling on all members of the Fairfield University Community "to pray earnestly for the people of Haiti and to join in humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of those who are victims of this disaster."

They said more specific plans would be in place in the coming days and that individuals and the community at large would be invited to support the people of Haiti. "We extend heartfelt sympathy to all who have lost family and friends as a result of Tuesday's devastating earthquake. Our prayers and our thoughts are especially with our faculty, staff, and students who have family and loved ones in Haiti."

The university is working to confirm the safety and well-being of any students or alumni from, or present in, Haiti at this time.
