Quick Center for the Arts' resident Live Radio Dramas troupe returns to the Wien Experimental Theater with a "Vintage Grab Bag" of authentic shows performed live in front of microphones on Friday, March 5 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 6 at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $25. This presentation is part of the Arts & Minds Season.

New Haven resident and director Daniel Smith provides the actual 30s and 40s radio program environment with an ensemble of seasoned actors performing vintage radio scripts that range from creepy to fantastic, complete with palpable sound effects and live original music.

The "Vintage Grab Bag" series installment features an episode from "Escape" that places a character inside a lighthouse where he discovers that there are thousands of ship rats gnawing through walls; a "Quiet, Please" episode that follows a man whose life events appear to be identical to those of another man with the same name - 10 years later; and the improbable and often, ridiculous future world of "Flash Gordon" takes the audience to the edge of its seats - by design. Smith also has some surprises instore that he says will hook new fans of the series while entertaining those devoted fans that demand his usual high standards.

The cast includes the familiar faces and voices of John Watson (New Haven), Gary Cavello and Zac Ellston (West Haven), Brianne Bresky (Monroe), Josiah Rowe (Cheshire), Geoffrey Gilbert (Stratford) and Joe Mango (Beacon Falls).

Live sound effects and vintage commercials are highlights of the Radio Dramas. A string trio provides live music and Smith enhances the dramatic tension on organ and piano.
