The Metropolitan Opera's production of Puccini's "La Fanciulla del West" starring Deborah Voigt and Marcello Giordani for The Met: Live in HD series is nearly sold out at the Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University for Saturday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. Seats are still available for the Sunday, Jan. 9 encore at 12 p.m. Tickets are $22 general, $20 senior and $15 children and students.

Puccini's wild-west opera had its world premiere in 1910 at the Met. Now, on the occasion of its centennial, all-American diva Voigt sings the title role of the "girl of the golden west," starring opposite Giordani with Lucio Gallo and conducted by Nicola Luisotti.

The Met's Peabody and Emmy Award®-winning series, The Met: Live in HD continues its fifth season with this production. Coming next is Peter Sellars' production of John Adams' "Nixon in China," Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. with an encore at 6 p.m.

Access to the Quick Center for the Arts is through the Barlow Road gate at 200 Barlow Road.  Special Note: From Oct. 4, 2010 through June 30, 2012, the southern end of North Benson Road (Rt. 135) will be closed to traffic on nights and weekends. Round Hill Road intersects with Barlow and provides access to the Quick Center for the Arts.
