E. Gerald Corrigan of Goldman Sachs to discuss the historic financial crisis at 2009 Charles F. Dolan Lecture at Fairfield University

Image: E Gerald Corrigan E. Gerald Corrigan, a Managing Director at Goldman, Sachs & Co., and Chairman of Goldman Sachs Bank USA, will deliver the 2009 Charles F. Dolan Lecture at Fairfield University on Tuesday, November 10 at 8 p.m. His talk, entitled "Reflections on the Financial Crisis," will take place in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, on the Fairfield campus. Mr. Corrigan earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Fairfield University in 1963 and is a former University trustee.

Mr. Corrigan has been a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs since 1994. Among his other activities at Goldman Sachs, he is Chairman of Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Co-chair of the Firmwide Risk Management Committee, Vice Chair of the Firmwide Business Practices Committee, and a member of the Firmwide Commitments Committee. Since joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. Corrigan has served as chair or co-chair of a number of firmwide and industry-wide groups dealing with a range of issues having major implications for financial market efficiency and stability. In addition, he provides a wide range of strategic advice to the firm and its clients.

Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Corrigan ended a 25-year career with the Federal Reserve System when he stepped down from his position as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 1993. He had been Chief Executive Officer of the New York Fed and Vice Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee since 1984.  He has also served as President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and as Special Assistant to Fed Chairman, Paul A. Volcker.

Mr. Corrigan earned a Master of Arts degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in economics from Fordham University. Mr. Corrigan is chairman, a trustee or a member of a number of non-profit organizations.

Inaugurated in 2001, the prestigious Charles F. Dolan Lecture Series features highly accomplished, visionary and internationally recognized business leaders. Charles F. Dolan is the founder and chairman of Cablevision Systems Corporation. The Dolan School of Business was named in recognition of Charles and Helen Dolan’s service and philanthropic contributions to Fairfield University.
