Radio Dramas return to Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts with favorite shows of 7 years

For seven years, the Quick Center for the Arts' Radio Dramas has expanded the boundaries of imagination for an ever-increasing and devoted audience of old-time radio broadcasts at Fairfield University's Wien Experimental Theatre. Now, this convincing company of familiar and talented actors brings back some of radio's finest and most memorable shows live, with sound effects and original live music for three performances of "Favorite Shows," Friday, Jan. 23 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The wildly entertaining program includes a taste of nearly every genre: adventure, mystery, suspense and science fiction. Among the shows included are, an episode of "Jack Armstrong: The All-American Boy;" "Mysterious Traveler" and "The Visiting Corpse," a nightmarish story of a man who kills his mother, sends her away in a mail package, only to find the package keeps being "returned to sender;" "Gangbusters" pulls out all the stops in "The Safe-Cracking Combine;" "Lights Out" never disappoints in the horror department and in this episode people are horrifically turned inside-out; the short futuristic adventure serial, "Space Patrol" lends more tension to the evening; and finally, "Sorry, Wrong Number," which is one of the most unforgettable radio scripts of all-time, written by Louise Fletcher for "Suspense." Agnes Moorehead originated the role on radio and it was later made into an Oscar-nominated film starring Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster.

The "Favorite Shows" company features Kathryn Marchand and Geoffrey Gilbert (Stratford), Brianne Bresky (Monroe), Josiah Rowe (Cheshire), Joe Mango (Beacon Falls) and John Watson and Gary Cavello as director (New Haven).
