Fairfield University's Robert Vickrey celebration continues with CPTV broadcast of award-winning documentary Robert Vickrey: Lyrical Realist - Sunday, April 12 at 10:30

In recognition and continuation of the current Fairfield University celebration of living master Robert Vickrey's sixty-year career in tempera painting, CPTV will broadcast a new version of the award-winning film, 'Robert Vickrey: Lyrical Realist" on Sunday, April 12 at 10:30 p.m. Recently shot footage broadens the scope of this fiercely independent artist by revealing his creative nature and documenting his indomitable energy, even at his present 83 years.

The CPTV broadcast of the Vickrey film is in sync with two major Robert Vickrey events celebrating a sixty-year career as a living master of tempera painting, the ongoing Fairfield University's Thomas J. Walsh Art Gallery major retrospective exhibition, “Robert Vickrey:  The Magic of Realism," and the publication of Hudson Hills Press' fine art comprehensive volume, named for the exhibition and written by Fairfield University Art History Professor Philip Eliasoph. The volume is a 224-page work containing 170 color plates and is on sale at bookstores everywhere.

The film won the 1986 Cine Golden Eagle Film and Video Competition and was produced by Richard Camp, Scott Vickrey and Philip Eliasoph. Camp directed and shot the film.  In addition to a producing credit, Eliasoph is credited as writer.

The exhibition continues at the Walsh Gallery at the Quick Center for the Arts until Sunday, April 26. Admission to the gallery is free and hours are: Tuesday-Saturday, 11-5 p.m., Sunday, 12 noon-4 p.m., closed Mondays and April 10-12. It is also open one hour prior to curtain and during intermission of Quick Center season performances.
