Saturday morning series on "Living Theology" at Fairfield University begins September 20 | Press Releases

The Living Theology series, sponsored by Fairfield University's Center for Catholic Studies, continues this fall with workshops to help local Catholics and others learn about the latest thinking in the church. Three sessions will take place this semester in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library's Multimedia Room on the Fairfield campus, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. They are free and open to the public.

The Saturday morning series begins September 20 with Fr. Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J., president of Fairfield University, conducting a session entitled, "Challenges of Catholic Higher Education Today."

The other sessions to be held this fall are:

"Women in the Church: Where are We Now? A panel discussion twenty years after Mulieris Dignitatem," on Saturday, Oct. 18, and
"The Psalms and the Wisdom Tradition," conducted by Dr. Angela Kim Harkins, assistant professor of Religious Studies at Fairfield, on Saturday, Nov. 15.

Dr. Paul Lakeland, Aloysius P. Kelley Professor of Catholic Studies at Fairfield and the organizer of the series, said: "We hope that the series will continue to be an enriching experience that will ultimately lead to reflection and dialogue."

The first "Living Theology" series began in spring 2005 and attracted participants from throughout Fairfield County. It is seen as an avenue to promote religious reflection among the Catholics of the diocese.
