St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre brings "Swan Lake" to Fairfield University and the Quick Center for the Arts

St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre performs Tchaikovsky's classic ballet, "Swan Lake" at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts on Friday, March 28 at 8 p.m. There will be a post-show "Art to Heart" discussion with members of the company.

With National Artist of Russia Yuri Petukhov, as artistic director, the company will present this beloved 3-act, 4-scene ballet choreographed by M. Petipa and L. Ivanov.

The company was founded as the first Theatre of Ballet in Russia under the management of the People's Artist of Russia, Professor Peter Gusev in 1966. Gusev was an artist of Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theatre and later became director of the Kirov Ballet. The company's rich history includes noted Russian directors and choreographers, as well as leading soloists from the Kirov Ballet.

The company constantly extends its repertoire from classical and modern ballet styles, while continuing to incorporate the mastery and high traditions of Russian ballet.

In this performance of "Swan Lake," the company will perform a full evening program of the classic favorite.
