"Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway" showcases great white way classics at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts

On Saturday, Feb. 9, Broadway performers, veterans of "The Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables," "Beauty and the Beast," "Jekyll & Hyde," and "Fiddler on the Roof," come to Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts singing classic showtunes in "Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway."

The show is a love letter to Broadway, a jubilant musical revue featuring 19 popular songs written by Tony Award-winning composers from long-running musicals, including "Wicked," "Company," "Chicago," "Cabaret," and "Rent." The performances take place at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $40, $45 and $50.

The Napa Valley Register noted of the show, "What Neil Berg and five scintillating and incredibly talented singers/actors hath wrought...is enough to keep Broadway buffs in a state of bliss for weeks to come."

Broadway.com observed, "Composer Neil Berg brought together a powerhouse group of Broadway vets for a one-night only tribute to 100 years of great Broadway tunes." The Miami New Times described the show as a "rip-roaring revue featuring veteran Broadway actors belting out memorable numbers."

Berg has produced concerts featuring Broadway's greats, including Bernadette Peters, Michael Crawford, Rita Moreno, and Betty Buckley. He is also the composer and lyricist of numerous musicals, such as the Off-Broadway hit "The Prince and the Pauper," which prompted The New York Times to note, "(Berg's) music soars on Angel's wings." He also composed music and lyrics for "Grumpy Old Men," "Tim and Scrooge," and "The Man Who Would Be King," among other musicals.

This musical revue stars Rob Evan, Mandy Gonzalez, William Michals, Rita Harvey, and Danny Zolli. Each has had a starring role on Broadway.

Evan was in the original Broadway cast of "Jekyll & Hyde," playing the title roles. In this revue, he performs "This is the Moment," the glorious number from that show. He also starred in "Tarzan," and "Les Miserables." When away from Broadway, Evan performs with the musical group, "Trans Siberian Orchestra."

Gonzalez made her Broadway debut in Elton John's "AIDA." Next month, she will open on Broadway in the musical, "In the Heights." Her credits also include "Lennon," and a starring role as Sarah opposite Michael Crawford in "Dance of the Vampires." She won an OBIE Award for her memorable performance in the Off-Broadway show, "Eli's Comin'," canvassing the career of Laura Nyro.

Michals starred on Broadway as ‘The Beast" in "Disney's Beauty and the Beast." His array of credits include, "Chicago," "The Scarlet Pimpernel," "The Music Man," and "Man of La Mancha."

Harvey recently completed a run as "Hodel" in the Broadway revival of "Fiddler on the Roof," starring Harvey Fierstein. She made her Broadway debut as Christine in "Phantom of the Opera," and created the role of "Lady Edith" in "The Prince and the Pauper."

Throughout the world, Zolli has played the roles of "Jesus" and "Judas" in "Jesus Christ Superstar." In regional theater, he's played the roles of "Che" in "Evita," the title role in "Candide," and "Tobias" in "Sweeney Todd."
