The Quick Center presents Rockapella on Friday the 13th in a special concert with Close Harmony

Rockapella, the five-man powerhouse a cappella group promises to dispel any lingering vibes surrounding a "Friday the 13th" myth when the group presents its rousing show at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, on Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. Opening for them is Close Harmony, a Fairfield Ludlowe High School a cappella co-ed ensemble consisting of 16-18 singers performing under the direction of Kevin Cotellese. The group focuses primarily on popular styles of music.

Well-known for their five-year contribution to the success of the award-winning PBS program, "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?," this matchless musical stand-alone ensemble blends the extraordinary talents of Kevin Wright's angelic voice with John K. Brown's liquid gold top-of-the-range sound, Scott Leonard's pyrotechnical vibrations, George Baldi's rich bass, and the legendary virtuoso percussion of Jeff Thacher's mouth drumming.

The "quintet" uses no more accompaniment than themselves as instruments in perfect synchronization with each other's individual talents thus creating a whole even more dynamic than its parts. Rockapella offers a vibrant program of original hits as well as traditional music in an infectious blend of soul, rock, R&B and jazz proving that the group remains the undisputed kings of contemporary a cappella music.

Tickets are $40, $35 and $30 and can be purchased online at www.quickcenter.com or through the Quick Center Box Office at (203) 254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396. For more information, visit the website, www.quickcenter.com.
