"If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and other beloved stories come to life at Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts

The whimsical tale of a hungry mouse and an accommodating little boy headlines a set of children's favorite stories in "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Other Stories" on Sunday, April 9, at 1 and 3 p.m. at Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Two more performances, part of the Quick Center's ArtsBound Schoolday series, will take place on Monday, April 10, at 10 a.m. and noon. The ArtsBound program is sponsored in part by the Greater Bridgeport Foundation, The Herman Goldman Foundation, and the Harry Chapin Foundation.

Called "prime viewing for the 5 to 9 set" by The Star-Ledger of Newark, this sparkling musical revue centers on the title story, adapted from the book by Laura Joffe Numeroff about the long string of comical events that can occur if you give a mouse a cookie. The Theatreworks/USA production also features six mini-musicals of other popular children's works, including Mary Hoffman's "Amazing Grace," Susan Meddaugh's "Martha Speaks" and Kevin Henkes' "Owen."

Founded in 1961, Theatreworks/USA is one of the nation's foremost professional theaters for family audiences. The company aims to create imaginative, sophisticated shows that are also educational and thought provoking. Theatreworks has performed for about 72 million people in 49 states, including its homebase in New York City.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets for the ArtsBound performances, which are geared to school groups, are $7 and study guides are available. For tickets, call (203) 254-4010 or toll free at 1-877-ARTS-396. For more information, visit www.quickcenter.com.
