Fairfield Athletics announces hiring of Roy Brown and Maura Bolger

Fairfield University Director of Athletics Eugene Doris announced the addition of two new staff members. Roy Brown was named Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Development, and Maura Bolger was named Compliance Coordinator.

"I am pleased to welcome Roy and Maura to the Fairfield family," Doris said. "I am confident that they will both become integral parts of our department and serve the student-athletes and Fairfield community well."

In his position at Fairfield, Brown is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and promotion plans, with increased attendance and brand awareness as two primary goals. He will also be involved in developing and coordinating community relation activities and initiate strategies to improve the experience of fans of Fairfield athletic teams.

Brown comes to Fairfield after spending the past two years as Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing and Public Relations at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La. Over his tenure, Brown was responsible for an 87 percent increase in corporate sponsorships. His fan relation efforts bore fruit as well, as he saw a 105 percent increase in ticket sales for men's basketball, 118 percent for women's basketball, resulting in a 34 percent increase in attendance at men's games and a 51 percent increase in attendance at women's games.

Brown earned both a bachelor's degree in psychology, 1999, and a master's in public relations, 2002, from Louisiana-Lafayette. He has also worked with the Ashville Altitude and Mobile Revelers of the NBA Development League, as well as serving as assistant director of public relations with Calzone and Associates Advertising in Lafayette, La.

In her new role, Bolger oversees the day-to-day compliance activities of the Department of Athletics to ensure its compliance with all rules and regulations of the institution, conference and NCAA. She also handles educating staff, coaches, student-athletes and university liaisons with NCAA rules and regulations.

Bolger earned a bachelor's degree in economic from Princeton University in 2003. At Princeton she was a member of the swimming and diving team, earning All-Ivy League Second Team accolades in 2000. She went onto Pepperdine School of Law, earning her J.D. this past May. At Pepperdine she served as a graduate assistant in compliance, competed in swimming, and earned All-Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference Second Team honors.

Fairfield is an NCAA Division I member of the 10-school Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
